Hallmarked in London in 1916 by Liberty & Co., this novelty set of six, Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons, feature enamelled terminals depicting men in “Convalescent Blues” - a special uniform issued to First World War battle wounded soldiers when they arrived at hospital in England. The uniform consisted of a blue single-breasted jacket with a white lining - worn open at the neck, blue trousers, a white shirt and a red tie. To complete the outfit he wore his own khaki service cap with its regimental badge. Presented in their original box, each coffee spoon measures 5"(12.5cm) in length and together they weigh 2.14 troy ounces.

The box features silver mounts which are also engraved. The sugar caddy measures 6.5"(18cm) tall, by 7"(18cm) from handle to handle, and each tea caddy measures 6"(15cm) tall, by 5.5"(14cm) wide. The wooden box measures 8"(20cm) tall, by 17.5"(45cm) wide, by 7"(18cm) deep. The total silver weight of the set is 46.5 troy ounces. The arms engraved are those of the Reeve Family of Thwaite.

The tray, which is decorated with a shell and gadroon border, and engraved crest to the centre, can be removed from the base and used on its own. The table measures 19"(48cm) tall, by 27.75"(68cm) over the handles, by 16"(41cm) deep, and weighs an impressive 8.4kg (270 troy ounces).
