The design by Mellor won first prize from the British Council of Industrial Design in 1959 for both aesthetic and practical reasons. Hallmarked in Sheffield in 1897 by Walker & Hall, this exceptional, Victorian, Antique Sterling Silver Centrepiece, features a removable central bowl supported by four Neoclassical columns, surmounted on an oval base adorned to both ends with Greco-Roman Female figures holding bunches of grapes, and cast and applied vacant cartouches to either side. The centrepiece measures 16"(41cm) tall, by 20.5"(52cm) wide, by 11.5"(29cm) deep, and weighs a substantial 193.5 troy ounces.
