The first mention in print of a silver teaspoon was in an advert from 1686 which recorded the theft of 3 small silver and gilt teaspoons and offered a ‘large reward’ for their return. Silver teaspoons were considered luxury items throughout the 18th Century, becoming more commonplace during the 19th Century as more silverware was produced. Sets in boxes make a wonderful gift for all occasions, and come in a variety of patterns and styles.
