Hallmarked in London in 1909 by Richard Hodd & Son, this incredibly rare, Edwardian Antique Sterling Silver Claret Jug, is in the form of a monkey, realistically posed and with glass eyes. The claret jug measures 11.5"(29cm) tall, by 8"(20cm) from handle to mouth. There have been some noteworthy collectors of animal shaped jugs, including Her Majesty the Queen Mother, and the famous Kent collection of claret jugs.
