This bowl forms part of Stuart Devlin’s celebrated sea urchin series, introduced around 1968 during the early years of his London workshop. The textured surface, created through repeated punching and chasing, is worked in high relief and contrasted with a polished gilt interior. Similar examples were exhibited at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1969 and are held in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
