Hallmarked in London in 1792 by Peter & Anne Bateman, this exceptional, George III Antique Sterling Silver Teapot & Stand, features wonderfully engraved decoration throughout, and a wooden handle and finial. The teapot on the stand measures 7"(17.5cm) tall, by 11"(28cm) from handle to spout, and together they weigh 17.85 troy ounces. The stand has an overstruck makers mark for George Gray, of whom Grimwade writes "His first mark appears frequently overstruck on those of Hester Bateman and her successors Peter and Anne, and it would seem likely that he bought extensively from them".
