L4560: Sterling Silver Pair Of Candlesticks

Hallmarked In 1739

Hallmarked in London in 1739 by John White, this exquisite pair of George II, Antique Sterling Silver Candlesticks, are cast and are each engraved with an original crest. Each candlestick measures 8.5"(21cm) tall, by 4.75"(12cm) wide and deep, and the pair together weigh a substantial 42.9 troy ounces. John White is described in Grimwade as "a mysterious figure, as his work, somewhat rare, is of high quality and Huguenot character, without there being any apparent connection in his training or parentage with the immigré school."



L5948: Sterling Silver Set Of 4 Candlesticks

Hallmarked In 1740

Hallmarked in London in 1740 by Philip Garden, this remarkable set of 4, George II period, Antique Sterling Silver Candlesticks, are cast, and are a fine example of the restrained rococo taste that Garden was known for. Each candlesticks measures 7.25"(18.5cm) tall, by 4.5"(11.5cm) wide, by 4.5"(11.5cm) deep. Together they weigh 62 troy ounces.
