Hallmarked in London in 1831 & 1832 by Edward Barton this elegant William IV antique sterling silver four-piece tea set is of a classic lobed or 'melon' form. The pieces have applied cast scroll feet and cast scroll handles with detailed acanthus decoration. The teapot and hot water pot are completed with a high-relief floral finial to the lid, and the cream jug and sugar bowl have a gilded interior. The set has a combined weight of 73 troy ounces.
The teapot measures 6.5"(16.5cm) tall, by 11"(28cm) handle to spout and 7"(18cm) deep. The coffee pot measures 9.5"(24cm) tall, by 9.75"(24.5cm) handle to spout and 6.25"(16cm) deep. The sugar bowl measures 3.75"(9cm) tall, by 8.5"(21.5cm) handle to handle and 5.75"(14.5cm) deep. The cream jug measures 3.75"(9.5cm) tall, by 6"(15cm) handle to spout and 4"(10cm) deep.
