Hallmarked in London in 1617, this very rare James I Antique, Sterling Silver Plate or Paten is a fine example of early 17th century craftsmanship in the simple Protestant style. The plate has a diameter of 9.75"(25cm) and weighs 12.3 troy ounces. The maker's mark is unregistered. However, on page 14 of the book 'Antique Altar Plate in the County of Buckingham' by Brigadier D.W. Jackson the mark is documented on a Communion Cup and Cover owned by Penn Holy Trinity Church and also made in 1617.
