Made Circa 1825

Made circa 1825, this very attractive, George IV, Antique Old Sheffield Plate Soup Tureen, has a shaped body, a scroll border, an engraved crest, and acanthus detailing to the handles and feet. The soup tureen measures 11"(28cm) tall, by 16"(40cm) wide, by 10"(25.5cm) deep.

Made Circa 1815

Made circa 1815, this striking, Antique Old Sheffield Plate Soup Tureen, features ornately decorated feet and handles, a gadroon border, an engraved coat of arms, and a removable lining. The soup tureen measures 11.5"(29cm) tall, by 13.5"(34cm) wide, by 9.5 inches (24cm) deep. The motto translates as 'My country is dear, but liberty is dearer', and the coat of arms if likely that of the Thomson family.

The bouillabaisse tureen measures 6.75"(17cm) tall, by 10.25"(26cm) wide, by 8.5"(21.5cm) deep and weighs 48.8 troy ounces.

Hallmarked In 1766

Hallmarked in London in 1766 by Charles Frederick Kandler, this striking, George III, Antique Sterling Silver Soup Tureen, features gadroon borders, ornate feet and handles, and is engraved with a coat of arms to the body and crest to the lid. The soup tureen measures 8"(20.5cm) tall, by 15"(38.5cm) wide, and weighs 95.4 troy ounces. Kandler's work can be seen in the Hermitage Museum, the Ashmolean Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The soup tureen measures 11.5"(29cm) tall, by 14"(35cm) wide, by 9"(23cm) deep, and weighs 99.4 troy ounces. The motto translates as 'I have borne and done many things' and is likely that of the Arkwright family.
