This exceptional Arts & Crafts period Sterling Silver casket, or box, carries hallmarks for London in 1901 by William Hutton & Sons, and was designed by Kate Harris. The casket stands on four feet, and features a repeating embossed floral pattern to the sides which is mimicked on the folding clasp. The reverse of the plaque is annotated by Varley, suggesting the enamel is a view of the Black Mountains as seen from Conception Bay in Newfoundland, Canada.
